10 Craft Ideas to do With Thankful Coloring Pages
Once those finished coloring pages start piling up, these easy, affordable crafts are the perfect way to turn your family’s colorful artwork into meaningful keepsakes of gratitude.
1. Gratitude Jar Labels
Cut out the word “Thankful” or other colored-in illustrations from your pages and use Mod Podge to seal them onto clean, empty mason jars. Place a stack of colorful construction paper slips next to the jar so family members can write down what they are grateful for and drop them inside all month long. It makes a beautiful, interactive centerpiece for your dining table.
2. “Crowned with Gratitude” Headbands
Cut out the finished, colored-in “Thankful” lettering and Thanksgiving icons from your pages. Staple a thick band of brown construction paper to fit your child's head, then glue the vibrant coloring page cut-outs right to the front. Kids can write three specific things they are thankful for on the sides of the headband with a marker to wear proudly.
3. Thankful Guest Placemats
Glue the colored coloring sheets onto a larger piece of sturdy poster board to create a border. Use a permanent marker to write “I am thankful for…” in the border space, and laminate the entire sheet using clear contact paper. Lay these out at the kids' Thanksgiving table with dry-erase markers so guests can write and erase their blessings throughout the holiday dinner.
4. The Great Gratitude Garland
Cut your colored pages into uniform pennant triangles, making sure the most vibrant colored sections and words are showcased. Punch two holes at the top of each triangle and thread a rustic piece of twine or ribbon through them. Hang this collaborative garland across your fireplace mantle or classroom bulletin board to display your collective thankful spirit.
5. “Count Your Blessings” Spinner
Cut a large circle out of a colored page that features various illustrations of thanks. Secure it to the center of a sturdy paper plate using a brass paper fastener (brad), then cut a small “window” wedge out of a second paper plate placed on top. Spin the wheel to reveal different colored gratitude prompts, encouraging kids to share what they are thankful for in that category.
6. Collaborative Thankful Tree Leaf-Shed
Draw a large, bare tree trunk on a sheet of poster board and tape it to the wall. Have children cut leaf shapes directly out of their colored “Thankful” pages, write one specific blessing on the back of each leaf, and glue them to the tree branches. Watch the tree “grow” more colorful and full as the season of gratitude progresses.
7. Windchime of Thanks
Cut out individual colored elements like turkeys, leaves, and hearts from the coloring sheets and glue them to stiff cardboard backing. Punch a hole in the top of each piece, tie them with colorful yarn to a fallen branch from the backyard, and hang it near a window. The colorful reminders of your blessings will gently sway and spin in the breeze.
8. Daily Gratitude Journal Cover
Trim the colored “Thankful” page to fit the front of a plain composition notebook and secure it with a glue stick. Wrap colorful duct tape around the spine to seal the edges and make the journal durable. Use this custom-covered notebook to write down three things you are thankful for every night before bed.
9. Tabletop Blessing Box
Wrap an empty tissue box in solid construction paper, leaving the top opening clear. Cut up your colored coloring pages into small, decorative, business-card-sized slips, and write “Thankful for…” prompts on the white side. Place the cards inside the box for family members to pull out and answer during holiday meals.
10. “Pocketful of Thanks” Apron
Use fabric glue to attach a large, colored design element (like a colored cornucopia or “Thankful” banner) onto the front pocket of a plain canvas utility apron. Throughout November, family members can slip handwritten notes of appreciation for one another into the apron pocket. On Thanksgiving Day, put the apron on and take turns reading the sweet notes aloud.
