10 Craft Ideas to do With Cockatoo Coloring Pages
Once you've filled your home with beautifully colored cockatoo pages, don't let them gather dust! These easy and affordable crafts are perfect for putting your finished masterpieces to creative use.
1. Cockatoo Crest Headband
Cut out the head and magnificent crest from your colored cockatoo. Glue it to a strip of cardstock or construction paper, sized to fit around your head, then secure the ends with tape or a stapler to create a fun, wearable crown.
2. Perching Cockatoo Stick Puppet
Carefully cut out your colorful cockatoo. Glue it firmly to a craft stick or a sturdy popsicle stick, positioning the stick as if it's the bird's perch. Now you have a fun puppet ready for imaginative play!
3. Flying Cockatoo Mobile
Cut out several different cockatoos from your colored pages. Punch a small hole in the top of each cockatoo and tie a length of string through it. Suspend them at varying heights from a hanger or two crossed craft sticks to create a delightful aerial display.
4. “Talking” Cardboard Tube Cockatoo
Glue your cut-out cockatoo around an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll. Add construction paper wings and a beak, cutting out a small circle for the “mouth” or leaving it whole. You can even add a pipe cleaner loop to the top for hanging or a small string to pull for a “talking” effect.
5. Feathered Photo Frame
Take a piece of sturdy cardboard and cut out a frame shape. Glue your favorite colored cockatoo to one corner, looking like it's perching on the frame. Decorate the rest of the frame with construction paper “feathers” or thin strips of colored paper for a tropical touch around your photo.
6. Cockatoo Perch Pencil Holder
Decorate an empty, clean tin can (like from soup or vegetables) by wrapping it with brown or green construction paper to resemble a tree branch or foliage. Cut out your cockatoo and glue it to the side of the can, making it appear as though it's perched on the branch. This creates a charming and functional desk accessory.
7. “Polly Want a Cracker” Treat Bag
Decorate a small brown paper bag or lunch bag with a construction paper design resembling a cracker box. Cut out your colored cockatoo and glue it to the front of the bag, adding a speech bubble from white paper that says, “Polly want a cracker?” Fill it with snacks for a fun themed treat bag.
8. Tropical Aviary Diorama
Use a shoebox placed on its side as the base for your diorama. Decorate the inside with green construction paper for foliage and brown paper for branches. Cut out several cockatoos from your pages and glue them into the scene, along with pipe cleaner vines or other natural elements, to create a mini tropical habitat.
9. Cockatoo Winged Bookmark
Cut out the body of your colored cockatoo, leaving out its wings. On a separate piece of cardstock, draw and cut out two larger, decorative wings. Glue the cockatoo body onto the cardstock wings, making sure the wings extend slightly wider, then laminate or cover with clear tape for durability. This creates a bookmark where the cockatoo peeks over your page!
10. “Hello” Cockatoo Door Hanger
Cut a door hanger shape from a sturdy piece of cardstock or an old cereal box. Glue your cut-out cockatoo onto the main body of the hanger. Add a friendly message like “Hello!” or “Welcome!” with markers to greet anyone who approaches your door.
