Once those vibrant macaw coloring pages are complete, don't just stack them away! Put your masterpieces to use with these easy and affordable craft ideas.
1. Macaw Mask Marvel
Cut out a colored macaw's head from your page, then glue it onto a larger piece of colored construction paper. Cut out eye holes and carefully trim around the shape, adding extra paper for a sturdy beak if needed. Attach elastic string or paper strips to the sides for a fun, wearable mask.
2. Feathered Flight Mobile
Cut out several vibrant feather shapes from your finished macaw pages. For durability and double-sided color, glue two matching feather cut-outs back-to-back around a length of string. Tie these feathered strings to a small twig or two crossed popsicle sticks to create a beautiful, dangling mobile.
3. Perching Puppet Pal
Carefully cut out your colorful macaw. Glue it firmly to a popsicle stick for a handle. Wrap a brown pipe cleaner around a second popsicle stick to create a textured “perch” branch. Securely attach your macaw's stick to the “perch” stick using glue or another small pipe cleaner, making a sweet perching puppet.
4. Tropical Habitat Diorama
Transform a shoebox into a miniature rainforest. Line the box with green and blue construction paper for leaves and sky. Cut out your colored macaws, perhaps several, and glue them onto small twigs or roll paper tubes for tree trunks. Arrange and glue them into the box to create a vibrant jungle scene.
5. Squawking Hand Puppet
Grab a paper lunch bag and flatten it. Cut out your colored macaw's head and wings from the page, along with its body. Glue the head to the flap of the bag and the body to the main part, ensuring the mouth aligns with the bag's fold. Add googly eyes for extra character and make your macaw “talk”!
6. Bright Feather Bookmark
Cut a sturdy rectangular strip from cardstock or poster board. From your finished coloring pages, cut out several small, colorful macaw feather shapes. Glue these feather cut-outs along one end of the strip, slightly overlapping, to create a vibrant feathered top. Punch a hole and tie a decorative ribbon through it.
7. Macaw Sound Shaker
Decorate a small, empty box (like a tissue box or cereal box) with a collage of cut-out macaw images and bright feather shapes from your pages. Before completely sealing the box, add a handful of dried beans or rice inside. Securely glue the box shut, then shake it to create your very own “squawking” sound effect.
8. Jungle Canopy Wall Art
Gather several finished macaw coloring pages. Cut out various macaws, individual feathers, or parts of their bodies. Arrange and glue these cut-outs onto a large piece of poster board or butcher paper, overlapping them to create a dense, vibrant “jungle canopy” collage. This makes a stunning display.
9. Vivid Coaster Creations
Cut out favorite sections of your colored macaw pages into circles or squares. Glue each cut-out onto a piece of sturdy cardboard. To protect your coasters from spills, carefully cover them with clear contact paper or apply several coats of Mod Podge, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly.
10. Winged Headband Fun
Create a simple headband from a strip of construction paper or cardstock. From your coloring pages, cut out two large, symmetrical macaw wing shapes (you might need to piece together parts from a few pages). Glue these wings firmly to the headband, positioning them behind your ears, for a colorful and playful look.
