10 Craft Ideas to do With Pelican Coloring Pages
Once those finished coloring pages pile up, put them to brilliant use with these easy, affordable pelican-themed crafts!
1. Pelican Hand Puppet
Cut out your colored pelican. Glue it to a brown paper bag, aligning the beak with the flap. Draw eyes or glue on googly eyes for a lively feathered friend, ready for storytelling adventures.
2. “Catch of the Day” Beak Basket
Cut out your pelican and glue it onto the front of a small paper box or folded construction paper “basket.” Leave the top part of the pelican's head/beak free to fold over the basket's opening. Now your pelican can hold small treasures or pretend “fish” in its magnificent pouch!
3. Soaring Pelican Mobile
Cut out multiple colored pelicans from your pages, perhaps in different flying poses. Punch a small hole at the top of each. Attach them with string at varying lengths to a hanger or two crossed popsicle sticks, creating a majestic flying display for any room.
4. Pelican Fishing Game
Affix a small magnet or paperclip to the beak of your cutout pelican. On separate small paper cutouts of fish, attach paperclips. Use a craft stick as a “fishing rod” with a string and magnet, then have your pelican “fish” for its dinner!
5. Pelican Perch Bookmark
Carefully cut out your colored pelican, focusing on its head and upper body. Glue the bottom half to a sturdy piece of cardstock cut into a tall rectangle. Let your pelican peek over the top of your book pages, marking your spot with coastal charm.
6. Pelican “Beach Scene” Diorama
Use a shoebox turned on its side for the base. Decorate the inside with blue paper for the ocean and tan paper for the sand. Glue your cut-out pelican(s) into the scene, perhaps standing on a “dock” made from popsicle sticks or flying above paper waves.
7. Wearable Pelican Visor
Trace and cut out a visor shape from poster board. Cut out your colored pelican's head and beak. Glue the pelican head to the front of the visor, making sure the beak extends forward. Add an elastic string or paper strip to fit around your head for a fun, personalized sun hat.
8. Pelican Feeders Poster
Get a large piece of blue poster board for the “ocean.” Cut out several of your colored pelicans and some paper “fish.” Glue the pelicans onto the poster board in various diving and fishing poses, with some “fish” already in their beaks or nearby, creating a vibrant group activity display.
9. Pelican “Wobble” Toy
Glue your cut-out pelican onto a slightly larger piece of cardboard for stiffness. Attach a small, weighted base (like a half-egg carton or modeling clay) to the bottom center, allowing the pelican to stand and wobble. Give it a gentle nudge and watch your pelican sway back and forth as if on ocean waves.
10. Pelican Message Holder
Cut out your colored pelican and glue it firmly onto a clothespin. Decorate the clothespin if desired. Use your pelican's “beak” (the clip) to hold important notes, photos, or even pretend “fish” for a charming and functional desk accessory.
