10 Craft Ideas to do With Hawk Coloring Pages
Once those vibrant hawk coloring pages are complete, don't let them gather dust! Here are ten easy and affordable crafts to bring your magnificent birds to life in new ways.
1. Soaring Hawk Kite
Cut out your colored hawk and reinforce the back with cardstock or thin poster board. Attach two thin sticks or straws across the back for a frame, then tape a string to the bottom stick. Add a tail made of strips of construction paper for stability, then take your hawk for a flight!
2. Aerial Hawk Mobile
Color and cut out several hawk images from your pages. Attach a string to the back of each hawk with tape, varying the lengths. Tie the other ends of the strings to a hanger or two crossed sticks to create a balanced mobile that spins and soars.
3. Keen-Eyed Hawk Binoculars
Cut out a hawk's head or a small hawk silhouette from your coloring pages. Glue it onto the front of two empty paper towel rolls taped side-by-side. Use construction paper to decorate the outside, then “spot” some distant prey with your hawk-inspired vision!
4. Feathered Hawk Mask
Cut out the head and beak portion of your colored hawk. Glue this onto a larger piece of construction paper or thin cardstock, shaping it to fit your face. Cut out eyeholes and punch a hole on each side, then thread elastic string through to wear your majestic hawk disguise.
5. Perching Hawk Diorama
Decorate the inside of a shoebox with construction paper to look like a sky background and a ground base. Glue a small twig or branch inside for your hawk to perch on. Cut out a hawk from your coloring page, fold its base to create a stand, and place it on the branch within its natural habitat.
6. Swooping Hawk Stick Puppet
Color and cut out a large hawk from your page. Glue it securely onto a sturdy popsicle stick or even a dowel rod. Add small pipe cleaners to the back of the wings if you want to bend and pose them slightly, making your hawk “swoop” through the air during play.
7. Window Silhouette Hawk
Cut out your colored hawk from the page. Place it onto a sheet of clear contact paper, colored side up, and cover it with another sheet of contact paper, pressing firmly to seal. Trim around the edges, then stick your beautiful hawk silhouette onto a window to catch the light.
8. High-Flying Hawk Glider
Print a simple paper airplane template onto cardstock. Color and cut out your hawk image, then glue it firmly onto the top “body” of the cardstock glider before folding. Launch your custom hawk glider and watch it soar across the room, mimicking a hawk in flight.
9. Cozy Hawk Nest Scene
Cut a paper plate in half and glue brown construction paper strips or real small twigs around the rim to create a nest shape. Cut out a small hawk from your coloring page and add cotton balls for soft “eggs” or chick-like forms inside the nest.
10. Sharp Talon Pencil Topper
Color and carefully cut out a small hawk, focusing on its strong talons or an overall miniature form. Secure a pipe cleaner to the back of the hawk with tape or glue, then wrap the pipe cleaner around the top of a pencil. Now your pencil has a watchful hawk guardian!
