10 Craft Ideas to do With Melting Snowman Coloring Pages
Once those finished coloring pages start piling up, these easy, budget-friendly crafts are the perfect way to turn your kids' artwork into interactive toys, cozy decorations, and winter keepsakes.
1. Sensory “Puddle” Squeeze Bag
Cut out the melting snowman's face and carrot nose from the colored page and tape them to the back of a clear Ziploc bag. Fill the bag with cheap blue hair gel, white glitter, and foam beads, then seal it tight with packing tape. Kids can squish the gel to watch the snowman's features “float” around inside his own squishy puddle.
2. Sinking Thermometer Slider
Glue the puddle portion of your colored snowman to the bottom of a strip of blue poster board. Cut out the snowman's upper body, glue it to a popsicle stick, and feed the stick through a vertical slit cut into the poster board. Slide the stick down to make the snowman “melt” into the puddle as your DIY paper thermometer rises.
3. Hot Cocoa Puddle Coasters
Carefully cut out the amorphous puddle shape of your colored snowman, along with his floating top hat. Place the cutout between two sheets of clear self-adhesive contact paper, press to seal, and trim the edges. Glue a piece of blue felt to the bottom to create a waterproof, spill-proof coaster that looks like a melted puddle on your coffee table.
4. Slid-Off-My-Head Headband
Cut out the melting snowman's drooping top hat and sliding coal eyes from the coloring page. Glue a long band of blue construction paper to fit around your child’s head, then attach the cutouts so they drape down over their forehead. This wearable art makes it look like the snowman is actively liquefying right off their head.
5. Floating Features Pop-Up Card
Fold a sheet of blue cardstock in half to make a greeting card, then cut out and glue the snowman's puddle base flat inside. Cut out the stick arms and top hat from the colored page and attach them to the card using small accordion-folded paper springs. When the card opens, the floating parts bouncy-pop out as if they are drifting away.
6. Slow-Motion Melt Mobile
Cut your colored snowman page into separate horizontal “melting layers,” including the hat, the sliding head, the scarf, and the puddle base. Punch small holes in the top and bottom of each piece and link them vertically using pieces of blue yarn. Hang it from a plastic hanger near a vent to watch the snowman “drip” in the breeze.
7. “Save the Snowman” Cup Game
Glue the colorful puddle cutout around the outside of a blue plastic cup. Tie a piece of white yarn to the cup handle, and tie a white pom-pom—representing the snowman's escaped head—to the other end. Kids can toss the pom-pom into the air and try to catch it in the cup to “re-melt” him safely inside his puddle.
8. The Great Classroom Meltdown Mural
Cover a classroom bulletin board with giant blue butcher paper shaped like one massive puddle. Have every child color, cut out, and sign just the floating accessories—like the hats, carrot noses, and buttons—from their coloring pages. Paste them all over the giant blue background to create a hilarious, collaborative winter art piece.
9. Melted Snow Globe Jar
Cut out your colored snowman, coat him in clear packing tape to completely waterproof him, and glue his base to the inside lid of a clean mason jar. Fill the jar with water, a drop of glycerin, and white sequins, then screw the lid on tight and flip it. The sequins will swirl around like a mini blizzard over your melted friend.
10. Slanted Hat Door Hanger
Glue your colored melting snowman page to a sturdy piece of cardboard and cut out his melting silhouette. Use scissors to cut a 2-inch circle directly through his tilted, sliding top hat at the top of the page. Slip this opening over any doorknob so he hangs “limply” to welcome winter guests to the room.
